The town of Plain is anything, but plain. Just about fifteen minutes away from the replica Bavarian village of Leavenworth Plain is a world apart. It lays in a pleasant forested valley stretched along the snow fed Wenatchee river. It is a perfect place to escape to. There are small cabins and large ones. Fancy to basic. Many of them are directly on the water and others up the hill in Ponderosa Estate. In winter the river rushes sturdy down the valley. In sumer it slows a bit and residents sometimes psend days just sitting in the river. A great way to enjoy the hot summers. Just down the road there is a well known general store, a garden center and other facilities in the little town. From Plain you can proceed south to Leavenworth to enjoy great dining, shops and frequent year round mountain festivals. The Oktoberfest and Christmas Lighting ceremonies are world famous and that is said with modesty. West of Plain you will find the large and impressive Lake Weantchee with all its attractions. Boating, swimming and enjoying. North of Plain is the less well known Chiwawa river area. There is much to see and do . The area offers miles of great hiking and biking. In winter you can cross-country ski or drive hundreds of miles of snow mobile trails. Go deep into the mountains to see stupendous terrain and maybe do some fishing.
